Its been revealed to MacReviews that a Motion 4 in Final Cut Studio 3 does not work in OS X Yosemite 10.10
Apple Fan Site attempted to use Motion 5 with the famous Final Cut Pro 7 but received this error when Motion 4 was uninstalled:
The MacReviews team has tried re-installing Motion 4 and the entire Final Cut Studio 3 suite and was again greeted with this error:
Currently there are many other features of Final Cut Studio 3 that do work in OS X Yosemite 10.10 and we have listed these below. The only thing we’ve noticed having any issues when removing Motion 4 is Final Cut Pro 7. Batch Monitor, Apple Qmaster and Apple Qadministrator work as well.
The master templates for final cut pro 7 still work but the program motion 4 itself currently does not work.
We also attempted to download Motion 5 and run this, which was successful and this allowed us to use the updated version of motion, keeping final cut pro intact. The issue with this is, you will need to keep Motion 4 on your computer so that Final Cut Pro 7 can run smoothly even if it doesn’t work. This is because the files to motion templets in Final Cut Pro 7 are gathered by Motion 4’s folders.
If you delete motion 4 and download motion 5, then Final Cut Pro 7 will not work, you MUST keep Motion 4 installed on your system!
We will keep you posted if we receive any updates as they become apparent. Please comment below if you are having any other issues with any programs and we will investigate.
